Biography
I am a registered pharmacist, academic researcher, and lecturer in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti. I obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in 2012. I subsequently advanced my postgraduate training at the University of Ibadan, earning an M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry (Pharmaceutical Analysis) in 2018, finishing as the program's best student, and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2024. My academic journey is distinguished by international and national recognition, including the prestigious Otto Bayer Fellowship in Drug Discovery Sciences awarded by the Bayer Foundation Science Network in 2022. Prior to my appointment at FUOYE, I have worked as a lecturer at Igbinedion University, Okada, and have also had extensive clinical and administrative experience across tertiary healthcare institutions and community pharmacy practice. I am an active member of the Nigeria Association of Pharmacists in Academia (NAPA) and contribute to peer-reviewed scientific literature.
Research Interests
My primary research focus is analytical method development using derivatization techniques: synthesis of diazonium compounds, azo dye formulation and organic charge transfer techniques. The application of diazonium compounds as a derivatization reagent has produced methods based on simple spectrophotometric determination of pharmaceuticals of varied skeletons especially those lacking sufficient chromophores such that they can be determined via colorimetry as against using sophisticated, expensive equipment which may not be easily accessible in poor resource economies.
