Biography
Mrs. Otenaike, Oluwakemi Eniola is a Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry at Federal University Oye-Ekiti. She obtained her M.Tech. and B.Tech. degrees in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Technology, Akure where her second-degree research focused on biochemical evaluation of Hypericum perforatum and Matricaria chamomilla as functional foods in male Wistar rats. She is a researcher with a strong interest in natural products, phytomedicine, nutraceuticals, and functional food development. She currently serves in the Department of Biochemistry at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), where she is actively involved in teaching, research, and mentoring students.
Her research interests include antioxidant evaluation, bioactive compounds from medicinal plants, edible oils, and the development of natural therapeutic agents for the management of chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. She has also demonstrated interest in postharvest technology, food preservation, and the application of biochemistry to improve human health and nutrition.
Beyond the laboratory, Mrs. Otenaike is committed to scientific communication and academic excellence, participating in conferences, workshops, and professional development activities. She is passionate about translating scientific discoveries into practical solutions that benefit society and contribute to sustainable healthcare and food security.
In addition to her academic career, she is a woman of Christian faith who values service, mentorship, and lifelong learning. Her goal is to advance impactful research, inspire the next generation of scientists, and contribute meaningfully to the growth of biochemistry and biomedical research in Nigeria.
