Biography

Joel Olayide Amosun is a Nigerian geophysicist, lecturer, and researcher whose work focuses on applied geophysics, groundwater exploration, engineering geophysics, remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS), environmental geophysics, and climate-related studies. He is a Lecturer II in the Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Physical Science, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria, where he teaches undergraduate courses in Gravity and Magnetic Prospecting, Radiometric Prospecting, and Earth Physics, while also supervising undergraduate research projects and field investigations.
Joel obtained both his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) and Master of Technology (M.Tech.) degrees in Applied Geophysics from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), where his research focused on the application of integrated geophysical and remote sensing techniques for engineering and mineral exploration.
He has established a growing research profile with more than twenty peer-reviewed publications in reputable national and international journals. His research covers groundwater potential assessment, aquifer vulnerability, engineering site characterization, environmental geophysics, mineral exploration, hydrocarbon exploration, and the application of artificial intelligence and geospatial technologies to geoscience problems. His publications have appeared in respected journals such as SN Applied Sciences, Acta Geophysica, Arabian Journal of Geosciences, Modeling Earth Systems and Environment, Journal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology, and Natural Hazards and Earth System Sciences.
Beyond research and teaching, Joel actively contributes to the academic community through scholarly peer review, student mentorship, and professional service. His commitment to research excellence has been recognised through several awards, including the TETFund Research Award and international training programmes organised by the International Seabed Authority (ISA).
