Biography

Akintayo Cecilia Olufunke is a Professor of Industrial Chemistry. Her research forte focuses on plant oils as a renewable resource with the potential to create value-added polymers. With a career spanning over two decades, she has demonstrated a profound commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.
Her academic career commenced at the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti in 1997, where she began as an Assistant Lecturer and steadily rose to the rank of Lecturer I by 2008. She later transitioned to Ekiti State University in June 2008 before joining the Federal University Oye-Ekiti in June 2012. Notably, she made history at FUOYE by delivering the institution's first inaugural lecture in 2019 upon her appointment as a full Professor. Professor Akintayo has distinguished herself as a prolific scholar, garnering numerous national and international accolades. Her research contributions have been recognized through prestigious grants and fellowships, including the International Foundation for Science (IFS) grant, Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (AVH), Schlumberger Faculty for the Future (FFF) Fellowship, and grants from organizations such as the Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). In addition to her academic pursuits, Professor Akintayo has held various administrative positions within the universities. Notably, she served as Ag. HOD, Industrial Chemistry 2014-2016, the Director, Academic Planning Unit at FUOYE 2018-2021, Senate Representative FUOYE A&PC committe, Provost, College of Postgraduate School (2022 to 2023),Bowen University Iwo. And presently, NAWACS President and the Pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences, FUOYE.
A passionate mentor and educator, she has served as external examiner and Professorial Assessor to several universities locally and internationally. She has supervised numerous graduate students and remains actively engaged in shaping the next generation of scholars.
