Biography

Emmanuel Chibike CHUKWU (Ph.D) hails from Obiofu, Amoji-Nenwe Autonomous Community in Aninri LGA of Enugu State, Nigeria. Dr. CHUKWU was the Senior Prefect in his class of 2000 from Awgu High School, Nenwe. He obtained a BSc. degree in Geology & Exploration Geophysics from the Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Abakaliki (2008); an MSc. in Economic Geology & Geochemistry from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka (2016); and a Ph.D in Petrology with Geochemistry (after visiting the Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX, USA, for the analyses of his Ph.D samples) from the University of Calabar (UNICAL) in 2024.

Research Interests

Dr. CHUKWU is curious about unraveling the mysteries behind the petrology of the "hard" rocks and their ability to host various materials including the gems - diamond in kimberlites, gold in suitable Formations (especially the Eburnian Birimian rocks) in various forms - and indeed other metals of interest including the base metals. He is also interested in the geochemical studies of metals' mobility, migration, dispersion, abundance/depletion and depositions in the rocks, soils, stream sediments, plants (geobotany/biogeochemistry) and in the air. Dr. CHUKWU is also at home with studies pertaining to the petrography and the petrogenesis of the Igneous and Metamorphic rocks including their absolute dating experiences (geochronology).
