Biography

Professor Folasayo T. Fayose is a Lecturer and HOD in Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering at the Federal University Oye Ekiti, Nigeria, with specialization in Farm Power and Machinery Engineering. Her academic excellence has been recognized through multiple scholarships and fellowships, including awards from the Ondo State Government, the Federal Government of Nigeria, USAID’s African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD), and the Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa. She has also received numerous travel and research grants from NRF/KIC, FMN, EUACP, and TETFUND. Her professional career reflects extensive practical engagement with agricultural machinery. Beginning with her SIWES training at IITA, she gained hands-on experience with tractors, post-harvest equipment, irrigation systems, and farm implements. Also, she served as Senior Agricultural Engineer at the Ondo State Agricultural Development Project, rising to Acting Director of Engineering Services. She later worked as a Research Fellow at FUNAAB’s Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research, contributing to mandate crop production, research monitoring, and machinery management. Dr. Fayose’s passion for research led her to direct the Centre for Research and Development at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic before joining FUOYE, where she successfully initiated and sourced funding departmental projects. Her research focuses on developing and optimizing agricultural machines to reduce drudgery and human labor in farming systems. She is a COREN-registered Engineer and an active member of professional bodies including NIAE, NSE, ASABE, OWSD and ISAE. With over 70 publications, she has made significant contributions to farm power and crop processing machinery research. Technologically adept, she applies tools such as Python, Ansys, AUTOCAD, SAS, and LMS platforms in her work. Professor Fayose is widely traveled, happily married, and committed to advancing agricultural engineering and community development.

Research Interests

Reduce drudgery and manual labor in agricultural operations through mechanization and automation.
Integrate emerging technologies such as sensors, artificial intelligence, and machine learning for intelligent machine control, precision farming, and real-time monitoring.
Advance energy studies in agricultural engineering, emphasizing efficient power utilization, renewable energy integration, and sustainable energy solutions for farm operations.

Improve post-harvest processing technologies including dryers, conveyors, threshers, and harvesters, ensuring reduced losses, higher efficiency and improved resource management.
Apply computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computer-aided engineering tools (Python, Ansys, AUTOCAD, SAS) to model, simulate, and refine machinery and biological material processes.
Promote community-oriented innovations, such as labor-saving devices and locally adaptable equipment for rural development.
