Biography

Philip Idowu Ajewole was born on Friday 27th July, 1973 in the serene town of Arigidi-Ekiti (now Ayegbaju-Ekiti). Forthrightness, industriousness, self-discipline, determination, honesty and transparentness constitute his hallmarks. His quest for knowledge has enhanced him to obtain academic degrees and professional certifications.

He obtained B.Ed, M.Ed. and Ph.D in Educational Management from University of Ilorin and University of Ibadan, respectively. Also, he obtained a Master in Managerial Psychology from the Department of Psychology, University of Ibadan. He specialises in Personnel Administration.

Ajewole is a registered member of various professional bodies, viz: Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators, Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria, Nigerian Association of Pastoral Counsellors, International Association for Innovations in Educational Assessment, International Council for Education, Research and Training; European Centre for Research Training and Development, UK.

Based on his leadership skills and healthy interpersonal relationship with students and staff, he was appointed by the Vice-Chancellor as the pioneer Head of the Department of Science Education and HOD of the Department of Educational Management and Business Studies (2021-2023 & 2025 till date).

He pioneered the Teaching Practice of the Faculty Education and led in that capacity for three years during which he midwifed the Teaching Practice Textbook for the Faculty. He is the pioneer Chairman of the Faculty of Education Disciplinary Committee from 2021 till date. The Dean of the Faculty magnanimously gave him a Letter of Commendation (2022) for his meritorious service.

Ajewole has chaired the University Investigative Panel on the Case of Absent from Duty without Permission, Faculty Disciplinary Committee, Teaching Practice Committee, Departmental Appointment and Promotion Committee, among others.

Dr Ajewole has published close to 70 papers in reputable journals.
