Office: Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Federal University Oye-Ekiti
I am a research scientist with a passion for understanding the mechanisms of action and interactions, as well as the mechanistic basis of the toxicities of drugs, chemicals, biological and physical agents, at the molecular level. I am also interested in the safety of pharmaceuticals, herbal remedies and chemicals.
My current research interests cover molecular pharmacology, including computer-aided drug design and the application of RNA in disease therapeutics, pharmacogenomics, epigenetics, clinical pharmacokinetics, ethnopharmacology and toxicology. Specifically, I am interested in the human and environmental health risk assessment of persistent environmental contaminants (e.g., PAHs, heavy metals, OPPs, PFAS, POPs), other contaminants of concern, and endocrine disruptors, as well as the toxicological implications/public health significance of these substances among vulnerable populations, including gestational females, children, and geriatrics.
Recently, I have been poised to discover and develop therapeutic agents to mitigate the adverse health outcomes and risks associated with toxicant exposures. I have a broad background in human physiology and pharmacology, with specific training in toxicology. Nonetheless, I am apt and open to other areas of pharmacology and biological sciences.
I have served on key university administrative positions and committees, including departmental postgraduate coordinator, research coordinator, curriculum development committee, and faculty examination officer, among others. I have trained, mentored, and supervised to completion several undergraduate and graduate students. I have also collaborated with researchers across Africa, Asia, Europe, the US, the UK and the UAE.
