Biography

Ismail A. Suleiman is a Professor of Pharmacoeconomic and Social Pharmacy and the immediate past Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy FUOYE. He obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and subsequently earned both Master of Pharmacy and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Lagos, with specialization in Pharmacoeconomic and Antimicrobial Resistance. He is also a Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists.
With over 25 years of professional pharmacy practice and more than two decades of academic experience, Professor Suleiman has distinguished himself in teaching, research, mentorship, and academic leadership. He has served in several capacities, including Community and Public Health Pharmacist, Head of Department, Sub-Dean, Dean, and postgraduate/fellowship trainer.
Professor Suleiman has an extensive publication record in reputable local and international journals and serves as a reviewer for several scholarly publications. He is recognized as one of the pioneers of Pharmacoeconomic research in Nigeria and is a certified trainer in Logistics and Supply Chain Management of Pharmaceuticals and Health Commodities. He has provided consultancy services to national and international organizations including USAID, National Program on Immunization and West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacy.
His research interests include Pharmacoeconomic, Pharmaceutical Care and Medication Therapy Management, Supply Chain Management, Antimicrobial Resistance, Social Pharmacy, Communication Skills, Emotional Intelligence, Personality Profiling, and Herbal Medicine Research. He founded the Public Health Pharmacy Research Group at Niger Delta University and has secured several research and travel grants from organizations such as the International Society for Pharmacoeconomic and Outcomes Research and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund. He is a member of several professional bodies and has served on numerous university committees and as an external assessor/examiner to various universities.
