Biography

Professor Chika Euphemia Asogwa is a Professor of Mass Communication at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria. Her research focuses on broadcast journalism, social and new media studies, gender and behavioural change communication, health communication, and strategic communication. Over the course of her academic career, she has built a distinguished record in teaching, research, academic leadership, and university administration.
She obtained her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mass Communication from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, and a PhD in Communications from the Pontifical Angelicum University, Rome, Italy. She began her academic career at Kogi State University, Anyigba, where she served in several capacities, including Head of the Department of Mass Communication from 2011 to 2016.

Professor Asogwa is a prolific scholar with publications in leading national and international journals. Her work spans media studies, journalism, digital media, health communication, strategic communication, gender studies, and development communication. She has authored and co-authored books, book chapters, and numerous journal articles, and has received several TETFund grants and sponsorships, including research grants, book manuscript sponsorship, research training in Germany, and conference travel grants to Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Spain.

At FUOYE, she serves as the Pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies. She previously served as Director of Academic Planning, Acting Dean and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; pioneer Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Senator of the University, Chairperson of the University Sports Committee, and member of the University's Governing Council. She is also Editor-in-Chief of the FUOYE Journal of Communication, Associate Editor of several scholarly journals, external examiner, National Universities Commission accreditation team member, professorial assessor, and supervisor of numerous postgraduate students, making significant contributions to communication scholarship and higher education in Nigeria.
