Biography

Dr. Mary Tejumade Philip-Attah is a lecturer in the Department of Animal and Environmental Biology at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria, and an entomologist whose research focuses on vector biology, integrated pest management, medical entomology, insect ecology, and the development of environmentally sustainable pest management strategies. She earned her PhD in Zoology and Environmental Biology (Entomology) from Ekiti State University after obtaining both her MSc in Zoology (Entomology) from the University of Ibadan and her BSc in Applied Zoology from Olabisi Onabanjo University.
Her research explores the use of botanically derived insecticides and integrated vector management approaches to address challenges in public health and agriculture. She has contributed to studies on mosquito surveillance, larval source management, tick identification, stored-product protection, and the evaluation of medicinal plants as eco-friendly alternatives to synthetic pesticides. As an Entomology Technician, she currently contributes to the World Bank-supported National Malaria Elimination Programme in Ekiti State and a TETFund-funded project on tick surveillance, advancing evidence-based solutions for vector control and disease prevention.
She has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications in reputable international journals covering insect physiology, vector control, toxicology, phytochemistry, and biological pest management. Beyond her research, she teaches undergraduate courses, mentors students, and supervises research projects.
Passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration, she continues to integrate entomology, environmental science, public health, and data-driven approaches to develop sustainable solutions for vector-borne diseases and agricultural pest management in Africa. Her long-term vision is to become a leading researcher whose work informs policy, strengthens integrated pest and vector management, and contributes to healthier communities and resilient agricultural systems.
