Dr. Osakwe Uju Chinwe is a Soil Scientist with a Ph.D. in Soil Physics and Conservation from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where she also obtained her B.Agric. and M.Sc. degrees in Soil Science.
She is currently a Reader in the Department of Soil Science and Land Resources Management at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), with over twelve (12) years of teaching, research, and administrative experience. She currently serves as the Head of the Department of Soil Science and Land Resources Management.
Dr. Osakwe has taught numerous undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Soil Science and has actively supervised undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. Her research interests include soil structural stability, soil carbon dynamics, land-use systems, and the management of tropical soils for sustainable crop production. She has published over twenty four (24) scholarly articles in reputable national and international journals.
She has held several academic and administrative positions, including Departmental Examination Officer, Faculty of Agriculture Representative on the Faculty Board of Science, Departmental Coordinator of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Seminars, and Departmental Representative to the Faculty of Agriculture Postgraduate Studies Committee. She has also made significant contributions to the development and review of undergraduate and postgraduate curricula. In addition, she served as Deputy Director of Quality Assurance at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE).
Dr. Osakwe is a member of the Soil Science Society of Nigeria (SSSN). She is widely recognized for her democratic, inclusive, and collaborative leadership style, as well as her commitment to academic excellence, research, and institutional development.
