Biography
Professor Patrick Temi Adegun, MBBS, FMCS, FICS, PFCU, is a distinguished Consultant Urological Surgeon, Clinical Professor of Urology, cancer researcher, and university administrator with over three decades of experience in clinical practice, medical education, research, and healthcare leadership. He obtained his MBBS degree from the University of Ilorin in 1989, completed his residency training in Surgery at the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, where he earned the Fellowship of the Medical College (FMCS) in 1997, and subsequently obtained a Post-Fellowship Certificate in Urology from Kantonsspital, Basel, Switzerland, in 2001.
Professor Adegun has served as Consultant Urologist at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital and Clinical Professor of Urology at Ekiti State University, where he has made significant contributions to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, curriculum development, clinical mentorship, and surgical training. He also served with distinction as the Pioneer Chief Medical Director of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, providing visionary leadership that strengthened healthcare delivery and institutional development.
His research focuses primarily on prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, lower urinary tract disorders, and urological oncology. As an investigator with the Transatlantic Prostate Cancer Consortium (CaPTC) and recipient of multiple TETFund research grants, he has contributed extensively to advancing knowledge in prostate cancer among African populations. He has authored more than sixty peer-reviewed scientific publications and has presented his work at numerous national and international scientific conferences.
Beyond academia and clinical practice, Professor Adegun is actively involved in professional, community, and faith-based leadership. He is a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons, a member of several national and international professional organizations, and currently serves as National Director of the Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship International (Nigeria).
