Biography

Ogunjemite Babafemi George is of the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Faculty of Agriculture, FUOYE. Oye Ekiti, Nigeria. I served as the Head of the Department of Ecotourism and Wildlife, FUTA, Akure, from August 1st, 2015, to July 31st, 2018. I also served as the Head of the Department of Biological Sciences, Taraba State University, Jalingo, Nigeria, from Sept 1st 2018, to Sept. 30th 2019, and as Visiting Professor of Ecotourism in the Creative Arts and Tourism Department, Kwara State University, Malete, Kwara State, Nigeria (2020). I have published widely (Eighty articles) in world-class Journals. I have worked on several taxa of wildlife species: monkeys, antelopes, birds, and reptiles, to establish their habitat requirements and maintain them for ecological tourism to aid their conservation. I have supervised more than thirty students at the master's and the PhD levels. I also have my attention on the communities of primates on the eastern side of the Dahomey Gap, to understand the implications of the biogeographical barriers of the region in the delineation of their taxa. I am fully involved in promoting primate tourism in Nigeria's Forests. I am a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Species Survival Commission, Primate Specialist Group for Africa, a Fellow of the Wildlife Society of Nigeria (WISON), a member of the Forestry Association of Nigeria (FAN), and the Association of Critical Heritage Studies (ACHS) in Nigeria. I have served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Ecological Society of Nigeria (EcSON). I am currently the Working Editor of ROAN - Journal of Conservation. In July 2024, I was appointed as the Coordinator of the IUCN Nigeria Mammalian Specialist Group and a member of the Steering Committee of the Nigeria Specialist Groups
