Biography

Prof. Hilary Okoh is a Public Health Parasitologist and Entomologist. He attended Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awwhere he obtained a B.Sc. Degree in Applied Biology. He also has an M.Sc. Degree in Medical Parasitology and a Ph.D in Public Health Entomology, both from the University of Lagos. His research interest is in Malaria Vector Surveillance and Disease Management.
Prof. Okoh worked for 15 years as a Researcher in the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, (NIMR), Yaba, Lagos, before moving to the Federal University, Oye - Ekiti in 2014. He started his career as a Lecturer I in 2014 and rose through the ranks to become a Full Professor in 2023. He was Acting Head of Department, Animal and Environmental Biology, and has also served as Deputy Dean, Faculty of Science, FUOYE.
Prof. Okoh has over 50 publications in peer - reviewed journals and serves as Academic Editor to several journals including Malaria Journal, Nigerian Journal of Parasitology, and PAREPI. He has successfully managed two Global Fund Malaria grants while in the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, NIMR and currently serves as the Integrated Vector Management (IVM) specialist to the IMPACT project in Ekiti State. Prof. Okoh is currently the Principal Investigator (PI) for the Insecticide – Resistance Monitoring (IRM) grant/project in Ekiti State and also the PI for the Larvae Source Management grant. He is a member of the Ekiti State technical committee on malaria and is widely travelled. He belongs to several Professional bodies including Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria (Former member of Council, Former National Financial Secretary and Former National Treasurer), Association for Mosquito Control in Nigeria (National Public Relations Officer), Malaria Society of Nigeria (Former member of Council), Entomological Society of Nigeria, Pan African Mosquito Control Association and the Biotechnology Society of Nigeria.
