Biography
I have over 15 years’ experience in Crop Science and Horticulture, spanning IITA, Adamawa State University, the Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center, Taiwan (www.avrdc.org) and Federal University Oye Ekiti, Nigeria. My research work spanned legumes, cereals, root crops, and vegetables. I major in Plant Breeding with a good background in agronomy and crop improvement, phenotyping, genotyping and marker-assisted selection, crop variety development, farmers’ participatory research, and on-farm and multi-location research. My focal crops are legumes, root crops, cereals and vegetables. I have hands-on experience in screening crops for their reaction to biotic and abiotic stresses, trait identification, selection in crop breeding, and polyhouse and soilless research of high-value fruit and leaf vegetables. I have strong experience working in national and international research centers and collaborating with partners in the public and private sectors. I can set up collaborations with stakeholders in innovation platforms, define research goals and predicted outcomes, share ideas, and review research achievements against goals for collective action. I have supervised and graduated students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I have worked in a multidisciplinary/multi-cultural environment. I hold a Bachelor of Agriculture Degree in Agronomy, a Master of Agriculture Degree in Plant Breeding and Seed Technology and a Doctor of Philosophy in Crop Science (Plant Breeding).
