Dr. Moses Aziakpono Omoirri is a Nigerian pharmacologist, toxicologist, researcher, and university lecturer with expertise in experimental pharmacology, toxicology, phytomedicine, and natural product drug discovery. He currently serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria, where he teaches undergraduate professional courses, supervises student research, and contributes to curriculum development and departmental administration.
Dr. Omoirri obtained a B.Sc. in Physiology/Pharmacology from Delta State University, Abraka, before earning both his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology (Clinical Pharmacology) from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
His research interests encompass pharmacology, toxicology, phytomedicine, chronic toxicity studies, drug discovery, herb–drug interactions, and the pharmacological validation of medicinal plants. He has extensive experience in experimental animal research, biochemical and molecular analyses, histopathology, chromatographic techniques, and data analysis. His scholarly output includes numerous peer-reviewed publications in reputable international journals, book chapters, and presentations at national and international scientific conferences, including meetings of the West African Society for Pharmacology and the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology.
In addition to his research activities, he is an active member of professional bodies, including the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR), the West African Society for Pharmacology (WASP), the West African Society of Toxicology (WASOT), the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT), and the Association of Science Laboratory Technologists of Nigeria (ASLTON). Committed to excellence in teaching, research, and mentorship, Dr. Omoirri continues to advance pharmaceutical sciences through interdisciplinary collaboration, innovative research, and the training of the next generation of biomedical scientists.
Dr. Moses Omoirri's research focuses on the discovery, pharmacological evaluation, and safety assessment of natural products for the prevention and treatment of human diseases. His work integrates experimental pharmacology, toxicology, phytochemistry, and translational biomedical research to investigate the therapeutic potential of medicinal plants and bioactive compounds.
His principal research interests include:
Experimental Pharmacology
Clinical Pharmacology
Toxicology and Safety Evaluation
Phytomedicine and Ethnopharmacology
Natural Product Drug Discovery and Development
Pharmacokinetics and Herb–Drug Interactions
Phytochemical Screening and Bioactive Compound Isolation
