Engr. Dr. D. C. Uguru-Okorie received a B.Eng degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) and MSc. and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ibadan (UI). He was awarded the Nigeria Sao Tome and Principe Joint Development Authority, postgraduate scholarship during his MSc. programme and the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) PhD scholarship during his PhD programme; with which he travelled to the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, as a visiting PhD research student. He is a COREN registered engineer. He is currently a Reader in Mechatronics Engineering with fifteen (15) years lecturing experience. He is currently the Deputy Director, Quality Assurance; served as the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Landmark University and that of Mechatronics Engineering, Federal University Oye, Ekiti. He is a member of the selection committee for Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Local Scholarship Scheme, a Technical Committee member of Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and has served in various capacities at the national, university and religious levels. He was awarded with his research teams, the 2025 TETFund Research Projects Intervention and the 2021 TETFund National Research Fund Intervention grants. An Editor to FUOYEJET and serves as a reviewer to reputable journals. He has supervised one (1) MPhil, nine (9) Master’s students and has five (5) PhD students under his supervision, at an advanced stage of their research. He served as mentor to David Oyedepo Foundation scholars and currently serves as mentor to iDICE founders. His research areas are in Thermo-Fluids, Automation, Embedded Systems Design and Artificial Intelligence. He is well published and currently has sixty (60) publications of which 21 are indexed in Web of Science and Scopus databases while the rest are in other reputable journal outlets.
My research interests are in the development of novel renewable and sustainable energy systems and smart engineering systems for medical, agricultural, industrial and domestic applications.
