Biography

Prof. Olawale Olarewaju Ajibola is an accomplished academic, researcher, and Materials and Metallurgical Engineer with over two decades of experience in teaching, research, innovation, and professional service. He holds B.Eng., M.Eng and Ph.D. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering with specialization in Corrosion Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA),
He further broadened his international research profile through postdoctoral research at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Currently a faculty member in the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE). He has made significant contributions to engineering education through teaching, curriculum development, laboratory establishment, and the supervision of numerous undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. His mentorship has inspired many young engineers and researchers to pursue excellence in academia and industry.
His research focuses on surface engineering (corrosion, tribology and coating), advanced engineering materials development and characterization, mineral processing and extractive metallurgy. He has led and contributed to the design and fabrication of engineering equipment and has published extensively in reputable peer-reviewed journals, with his work advancing knowledge in wear behaviour, materials performance, powder metallurgy, additive metallurgy, titanium-based composites, and sustainable materials development.
Beyond research, He has actively served the engineering profession through departmental, faculty, and university committees, while participating in national and international collaborations that promote innovation and capacity building. His commitment to excellence, integrity, lifelong learning, and professional development has earned him recognition as a respected scholar, mentor, and leader in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering.
Prof. Olawale O. Ajibola remains passionate about developing innovative engineering solutions, mentoring the next generation of engineers, and advancing research that contributes to sustainable industrial and technological development in Nigeria and beyond.
