Biography

Professor Bolanle Tajudeen Opoola is a senior scholar-administrator, applied linguist, teacher-educator and public-service professional whose career spans universities, colleges of education, secondary education and national examination and accreditation systems. His trajectory is distinguished by sustained academic leadership, institutional governance, curriculum development, quality assurance, student administration, strategic planning, research, editorial stewardship and public accountability.
His administrative experience is particularly relevant to the leadership of the National Commission for Colleges of Education. He has served at the highest levels of both the university and college-of-education systems, including as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Deputy Provost, Director of Academic Planning, Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dean of Faculty, Dean of School, Head of Department and chairman or member of numerous statutory and investigative committees. This combination gives him a practical understanding of policy formulation, regulatory compliance, institutional planning, programme accreditation, academic standards, staff and student management, resource utilisation and intergovernmental coordination.
Professor Opoola’s scholarship in applied linguistics, language education, mother-tongue policy, bilingualism, literacy, communication and culture complements his administrative record. His work consistently positions language and teacher education as instruments of national integration, social transformation, educational access and sustainable development. Through publications, conference engagements, supervision, mentoring and editorial leadership, he has contributed to the advancement of African languages and culturally responsive education.
