Biography

Dr Samuel Baiyeri is a senior lecturer at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Nigeria. He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Agronomy, Federal University, Viçosa, Brazil. Previously, he was a Field Research Assistant with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), a Visiting Research Fellow with the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), an Agronomist with the International Center for Soil Fertility and Agricultural Development (IFDC), and a Visiting Research Fellow with the University of Ghana. He has been a recipient of scholarships and travel grant awards from the International Foundation for Science (IFS), the John Innes Centre (JIC, UK), the Global Cassava Partnership in the Twenty-First Century (GCP 21), the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), TRECCAfrica, and TETFUND. He received the University of Nigeria, Nsukka Vice Chancellor’s Award for being the Best Graduating PhD student of the Faculty of Agriculture in 2021. He has published research articles in reputable and impact factor journals. He is working on the agronomic and nutritional evaluation of staple, neglected, and underutilized crops.

Research Interests

Sustainable agriculture, crop characterization and evaluation, crop modelling, omics, microbiome, and precision agriculture.
