Biography
Ayo Itunu Oluwatosin is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, Faculty of Science, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria.
She holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Microbiology from Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, Nigeria, and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Environmental Science and Technology from Lancaster University, United Kingdom.
Her teaching and research interests are in Environmental Toxicology, Waste Management, Ecotoxicology, Environmental Microbiology, and Soil Quality Assessment. Her research focuses on understanding the environmental and public health implications of contaminants in terrestrial ecosystems, with particular emphasis on heavy metal pollution, microbial contamination, and risk assessment of polluted soils. She is also interested in sustainable environmental management and evidence-based approaches to pollution control.
At the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, she is actively involved in teaching undergraduate courses, supervising students' practical and research activities, and contributing to academic and administrative responsibilities within the department. She is committed to promoting high standards of teaching, research, and community engagement while mentoring students in environmental sciences.
As an emerging researcher, she is pursuing doctoral studies in Environmental Toxicology, with a focus on assessing soil contamination from industrial activities and its ecological and human health implications. She has participated in academic conferences, departmental activities, and collaborative research initiatives aimed at advancing environmental sustainability and scientific knowledge.
