Biography

Dr. Success Emmanuel Unekwu Ojih is a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Dean, Faculty of Communication & Media Studies, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), and a Senator of the University.
A native of Kogi State, he holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of Benin, an M.A. from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a B.Sc. from Kogi State University. Over fifteen years, he has combined teaching with research, publishing widely in reputable local and international journals, including Scopus-indexed outlets. His scholarship interest sits around development communication, with health communication as a closely allied focus, alongside broader interests spanning new media, public relations, and behavioural change communication. He has supervised over 180 undergraduate research projects and supervises postgraduate students.
He has pioneered several initiatives at FUOYE, some of which are Coordinator, Department of Public Relations; Coordinator, Top-Up & Conversion Programme; and Coordinator, Mass Communication, Institute of Distance Learning. At the university level, he serves on the Quality Assurance Committee and the Examination Misconduct Committee, and represents his Faculty at Congregation to Senate.
His contributions have earned him the Vice-Chancellor's Award of Excellence as the Most Innovative Lecturer (2025), Faculty of Communication & Media Studies; the Trailblazer Award (2024); and the Students' Lecturer of the Year Award, recognitions spanning both institutional and student acclaim.
Beyond FUOYE, he is nurturing MassCommNaija, a platform giving communication students greater access to resources and educational content, while continuing to mentor a new generation of scholars, quietly and deliberately building a legacy that outlasts any single office.

Research Interests

Dr. Ojih's research interests span Development Communication and Health Communication, with additional focus on New Media, Public Relations, and Behavioural Change Communication, particularly, their application in public health awareness, civic engagement, and media accountability.
