Biography

Professor Olubanke Mofoluwaso Bankole is a distinguished scholar, educator, researcher , and academic administrator. She is a Professor of Library and Information Science at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria. She holds a B.Sc.(Hons) degree in Microbiology from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, and both a Master of Library Science(MLS) and a PhD in Library and Information Science from the University of Ibadan. Professor Bankole began her professional career in 2003 as a Librarian II at Olabisi Onabanjo University before serving at the Federal University of Agriculture , Abeokuta. In 2013, she joined FUOYE as a Senior Librarian and subsequently rose to the rank of Professor through her outstanding contributions to teaching, research. community service, and academic leadership. A recipient of two prestigious U.S. Carnegie Fellowships, Professor Bankole has published extensively in reputable national and International journals. Her research interests include library and information services, information literacy, knowledge management and scholarly communication. Professor Bankole served as pioneer Head of Department of Library and Information Science for four academic sessions, during which she strengthened the Department through improved learning resources, and acquisition of modern cataloguing and classification facilities. She also served as Dean of the Faculty of Education from 2022 to 2025, providing visionary leadership that resulted in staff expansion, construction of new academic facilities, successful NUC accreditation of programmes, introduction of PGDE, postgraduate programmes, establishment of FUOYE Staff School, and the commencement of TRCN preparatory classes, which consistently recorded outstanding success rates. Under her leadership, the Faculty successfully hosted the 2nd International Conference in 2025 with over 80 scholarly presentations and launched its online Faculty journal. She also served as Chairperson of the NLA, Ekiti State Chapter , from 2022 to 2025, where she promoted professional development, advocacy, collaboration, and excellence within the library and information profession.
