Biography

Dr. Olayiwola Grace Olaseeni is a Nigerian Geophysicist, lecturer, author, and community leader. Born in Omuo-Ekiti, she holds a Ph.D. in Exploration Geophysics (Groundwater/Engineering/Environmental Geophysics Option), M.Tech. in Applied Geophysics from Federal University of Technology, Akure and a B.Sc. (Hons). in Geology from University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State. Her earlier career started as an administrative officer in Local Government Service Commission, Ado-Ekiti, also as an Assistant Lecturer and currently a Reader in the Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Physical Sciences at Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Nigeria. She serves as Deputy Director, Fuoye Business Ventures Limited and Faculty Adviser to the FUOYE Global Chapter of the Association of Women Geoscientists, where she has held several academic leadership and administrative roles. Her field of study is Groundwater/Engineering/Environmental Geophysics. She also involves in so many committees that cut across Department, Faculty and University at Large. She has reviewed numerous manuscripts for different journals and attended both local and international conferences.

With over 25 academic publications, Dr. Olaseeni’s research focuses on groundwater quality, groundwater vulnerability, water hazard, and using Geographical Information System (GIS) in solving water related/community problems and ensuring sustainable development based on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). She is a member of NMGS, AWG, NAEG, NSPS, OWSG and SEGN.

Research Interests

My current research focuses on Exploration Geophysics;
a) Investigation of groundwater resources, groundwater vulnerability, groundwater flow modelling and mechanisms of pollutants transport in aquifers using spatial modelling and advanced remote sensing.
b) Learning how artificial intelligent (AI) and geographical information system (GIS) tools can be harmonized to develop predictive models to solve engineering site investigation, environmental and groundwater related problems.
