Prof. Modinat Adejoke Adekoya-Iromini

Biography

Prof. Adekoya-Iromini Modinat Adejoke is a Nigerian academic, plant scientist, and researcher specialising in Plant Breeding, Crop Genetics, and Agricultural Biotechnology. She is a lecturer in the Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, Nigeria.

She obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Botany from Olabisi Onabanjo University, followed by a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Nigeria. She later earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Crop Genetics and Breeding from Huazhong Agricultural University, China.

Prof. Adekoya-Iromini's research focuses on plant breeding, biotechnology, drought tolerance, crop improvement, genetic modification, and sustainable agricultural production. Her work aims to develop improved crop varieties that can withstand environmental stresses while increasing productivity and food security. She has authored and co-authored numerous scholarly publications in reputable scientific journals, contributing significantly to agricultural research both nationally and internationally.

At the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, she has been involved in teaching, mentoring students, and conducting research in plant science and biotechnology. Her ongoing research includes the development of screening protocols for drought resistance in rice and strategies for genetic improvement of economically important crops.

Through her dedication to teaching, research, and scientific innovation, Prof. Adekoya-Iromini Modinat Adejoke continues to contribute to the advancement of agricultural science and the development of sustainable crop production systems in Nigeria and beyond.
