Biography

Abdullahi Idris AHMAD is an Assistant Lecturer of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, Nigeria. In the Advanced studies in Petroleum and Energy Economics, he is currently working on the issues related to sustainable economic development, fiscal policy, and energy resource governance.
Ahmad has engaged in and participated in empirical research on oil price volatility, government revenue, fiscal responsibility and sustainable development, monetary policy and exchange rate dynamics, human capital investments, inflation and economic growth, cashless policy and financial inclusion, demand for renewable energy, environmental sustainability, and alleviation of poverty. He uses cutting-edge quantitative and econometric models such as the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model, the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), panel data estimation techniques, Granger causality analysis, and the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) to produce sound evidence for policymaking and research in the academic literature using the EViews statistical software package.
Besides research, Ahmad is also actively teaching undergraduate students, supervising graduate students, designing courses and mentoring students in economic theory, quantitative methods, and applied econometrics. He is dedicated to the development of research that is relevant to energy policy, macroeconomic management and sustainable development for evidence-based decision making.
He has continued to conduct research on the following topics: women empowerment in the wake of COVID-19, advanced unit root testing techniques in the context of stock market efficiency following the COVID-19 pandemic, oil and gas revenue management, fiscal responsibility, economics of energy transition, renewable energy economics and comparative studies of resource-rich economies.
Ahmad is dedicated to research, interdisciplinary scholarship and capacity building, all of which promote the creation of economic knowledge through high-quality teaching, impactful research and meaningful community engagement.

Research Interests

His research interests are in the areas of Petroleum Economics, Energy Economics, Financial Economics, Resource and Environmental Economics, Fiscal and Monetary Policy, Public Finance, Renewable Energy Economics, Energy Transition, Oil and Gas Revenue Management, Sustainable Economic Development, Green Economic Growth, Natural Resource Governance, Institutional Economics, Climate Change and Energy Policy, Gender and Energy Governance, Financial Market Efficiency, and Applied Econometrics. His research is focused on providing policy recommendations that are grounded in evidence to enable Nigeria and other developing economies to achieve sustainable resource management, macroeconomic stability, inclusive growth and economic resilience.
