Senior Lecturer

Department of Geology, Faculty of Physical Science

Area of Specialization: Sedimentology, Sedimentary Geochemistry, and Reservoir Characterization

Biography

Dr. Taiwo Ayodele Bolaji is a Lecturer in the Department of Geology at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria. He is a sedimentologist and environmental geochemist whose research bridges sedimentary geology, petroleum geology, hydrogeology, and environmental geoscience. His work focuses on understanding sedimentary processes, reservoir quality evolution, provenance, paleoenvironmental reconstruction, groundwater systems, and the application of geochemistry to environmental and energy-related challenges.

Dr. Bolaji teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in sedimentology, stratigraphy, petroleum geology, hydrogeochemistry and isotope geology, and is actively involved in mentoring students and supervising research projects. His research adopts an interdisciplinary approach, integrating petrography, mineralogy, sedimentology, inorganic and isotope geochemistry, palynology, and multivariate statistical techniques to investigate sedimentary basins and environmental systems.

His research interests include sedimentary geochemistry, reservoir characterization, diagenesis, clay mineralogy, hydrogeochemistry, environmental pollution assessment, paleoclimate reconstruction, and the sustainable management of water and geological resources. He has experience applying advanced analytical techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), ICP-MS, and stable isotope analysis to address geological and environmental problems.

Dr. Bolaji has published widely in reputable peer-reviewed journals on topics including reservoir characterization, sedimentary geochemistry, groundwater quality, environmental contamination, palynology, and basin evolution. His work contributes to a better understanding of sedimentary systems and their implications for natural resource exploration, environmental sustainability, and climate resilience.

He is committed to fostering national and international research collaborations and advancing geoscientific knowledge through innovative, multidisciplinary research. He maintains active scholarly profiles on Google Scholar, Scopus, ORCID, ResearchGate, and LinkedIn, reflecting his commitment to research visibility, academic engagement, and global collaboration.
