Biography

Professor Bartholomew I. C. Brai is a Professor of Biochemistry in the Department of Biochemistry, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, Nigeria. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, a Postgraduate Diploma in Food and Nutrition Security from Wageningen University & Research (WUR), The Netherlands, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Biochemistry from the University of Lagos, and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biochemistry from the University of Ibadan.
Prior to joining the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Professor Brai was a Research Fellow at the Nigerian Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), Yaba, Lagos, where he served for over twenty years and contributed significantly to biomedical research.
His research focuses on nutritional biochemistry, phytomedicine and biomedical research. He is also a Trainer in Effective Project Planning and Evaluation (EPPE) in Biomedical Research, an initiative of the World Health Organization's Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (WHO/TDR).
Professor Brai has held several notable leadership and public service positions, including Honourable Commissioner for Digital Economy, Science and Technology, Edo State; President of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN); Member of the National Committee on Food and Nutrition (NCFN); and Member of the National Council on Nutrition (NCN).
He is a member of the Nigerian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB) and the Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN). He is also a Fellow of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria (FNSN) and the National Institute for Professional Engineers and Scientists (FNIPES).
Professor Brai has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in reputable national and international journals. He remains actively engaged in teaching, research, postgraduate supervision, mentorship, and professional service, contributing to the advancement of Biochemistry, Nutrition, and Public Health in Nigeria and beyond.
