Biography
Dr. Fajana Akindeji Opeyemi obtained his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Applied Geophysics from the Federal University of Technology Akure, a Master of Science (M.Sc) degree in Applied Geophysics from the University of Ibadan, and a Ph.D. in Exploration Geophysics from the Federal University of Technology Akure.
With over a decade of teaching experience, He has been a dedicated educator at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. He currently holds the position of Reader in the Department of Geophysics. He teaches various undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Dr. Fajana has made significant contributions to the field of geophysics, earning him several distinctions and awards. Notably, he received numerous national and industry-sponsored scholarships, including the NNPC/ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Limited National Postgraduate Scholarship award and the Nigeria Agip Oil Company National Postgraduate Scholarship award.
He is a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), Nigeria Mining and Geosciences' Society (NMGS), National Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), and Western Australian Center for Applied Machine Learning and Data Science (WACAMLDS)
Dr. Akindeji Opeyemi Fajana continues to contribute to the advancement of applied geophysics through his research, teaching, and participation in professional organizations. His dedication to his field and commitment to excellence make him a respected figure in the academic community.
Research Interests
a) Developing advanced data processing and interpretation techniques for subsurface seismic imaging, reservoir characterization, and fluid tying using seismic and well log data sets for hydrocarbon potential evaluation
b) Employing near-surface geophysical methods for imaging and characterizing groundwater flow and development, engineering site investigation, pollution studies, and mineral exploration.
