Senior Lecturer

Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology, Faculty of Life Sciences

Area of Specialization: Plant Eco-physiology

Biography

Dr. Oyinade David is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, where her research focused on the physiological mechanisms underlying drought tolerance in Digitaria exilis. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Freiburg, Germany, where she conducted advanced research on the molecular responses of tomato plants to hypoxia and waterlogging stress using transcriptomics, root phenotyping, and other state-of-the-art techniques.

Dr. David has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications and serves as a reviewer for several reputable international journals in plant science, biotechnology, and related fields. Her research contributions have been recognized through prestigious competitive grants, including the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Institutional-Based Research (IBR) Grant, which supports her work on innovative strategies to enhance crop productivity and resilience under environmental stress.

Beyond her research activities, Dr. David is actively involved in teaching, student mentorship, and academic administration at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti. She is dedicated to advancing scientific discovery, fostering national and international research collaborations, and translating research outcomes into practical solutions that promote sustainable agriculture, environmental resilience, and global food security.
