Biography
Chiemela Imelda Ibeku, was born on 11th October, in Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria. She is a graduate of Abia State University Uturu, Nigeria, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages and Translation studies (French) in 2006 and University of Ibadan, where she obtained master’s degree in French Studies (2011) and a PhD in French Studies – African literature (June, 2024).
She worked with ISON BPO International limited as a customer care representative and later as a supervisor (Team Lead). She is currently a lecturer 2 in Federal University Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State Nigeria in the department of Linguistics and Languages. Her research interests include gender studies, migration studies, identity issues, comparative literature, African political systems and governance, indigenous knowledge and sustainable development, and Africa’s plight.
She has published articles on Migration issues, Africa’s plight, Misogyny and gender issues respectively. Dr. Ibeku is a member of African Studies Association, Canadian Association of African Studies, North East Modern Language Association, Nigeria Institute of Management and had won several awards on best performing Team Lead.
Research Interests
. My research interests include gender studies, migration studies, identity issues, comparative literature, African political systems and governance, indigenous knowledge and sustainable development, and Africa’s plight.
