Biography

Prof. Odo Ekundare Ayodele holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Engineering Physics from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
M.Tech degree in Electronic Measurement and Instrumentation from the Federal University of Technology Akure and a PhD. Degree
in Condensed matter/Solid State Physics with expertise in nano-semiconductor materials and device Physics from the University
of Cape Town, South Africa. Prof. Odo Ayodele was a DAAD scholar and have worked in reputable world facilities for materials
research, like the The Advanced Light Source at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory USA, the Brazilian Synchrotron Light
Laboratory (LNLS) for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM), in Campinas (SP), and the iThemba Laboratory for Accelerator
Based Sciences (iThemba LABS) South Africa were he worked as a Post-Doctoral Research scientist in Applied Nuclear and
Computational Physics. Prof. Odo Ayodele has also visited the International Center for Theoretical Physics Trieste Italy on
several occasion and has participated in more than six program on Advanced Instrumentation and reconfigurable devices using
Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and other embedded system devices. He also participated in courses on Abi-initio
Electronic structure calculations. Prof Odo Ayodele, has two international Patents on the development and applications of
semiconductor nano-inks and he is reputed for the development of the Spherical density algorithm for the analysis and
visualization of A positron emission tomography (PET) and positron emission particle tracking (PEPT) data.
Prof. Odo Ayodele started as a research scientist with the Engineering Materials development Institute Akure in 1999 before
joining the Federal University of Technology Akure in 2011 and subsequently the Federal University Oye-Ekiti in 2014 as a
senior lecturer, he rose to become a full professor in 2020.

1. Electronic Structure and Quantum Materials
One of my primary research areas is the investigation of metallic alloy compositional and structural properties. Using first-principles calculations, I explore the stability of their structures with emphasis on their mechanical, electronic and magnetic properties. Similar investigation is carried out using molecular dynamic simulation studies and the results produced are compared with experimental values.
2. Nanostructures Composite for Solar Cell development
The efficiency of solar cells is fundamentally linked to the properties of their active materials. My research explores quantum dots, 2D materials, and perovskite-based nanocomposites to enhance light absorption, charge carrier transport, and stability. Specifically, I focus on Quantum dot-sensitized solar cells (QDSSCs) for tunable bandgap engineering and enhanced photon absorption.
