Biography

Academic Biography of Dr. Adetunmbi Tella

Dr. Adetunmbi Tella is a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Animal Production and Health at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria. He holds a Ph.D. in Animal Breeding and Genetics (Molecular Genetics), with research interests in animal breeding and genetics, intensive cattle production, livestock physiology, climate-smart livestock systems, and sustainable animal agriculture.

His research focuses on improving livestock productivity through genetic improvement, reproductive management, heat stress adaptation, and the integration of conventional breeding approaches with molecular and computational tools. His work seeks to develop sustainable production systems that enhance animal performance, welfare, and resilience under tropical production conditions.

Dr. Tella has conducted research on the physiological and haematological responses of White Fulani cattle, the influence of coat colour on heat stress adaptation in West African Dwarf goats, and the physiological responses of broiler chickens to environmental stress. He is also interested heat Stress Genetics and Environmental Adaptation, conservation and characterization of Animal Genetic Resources and, Reproductive and Molecular Genetics.

He has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications and has presented his research at national and international conferences. In addition to his research activities, he actively supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students and is committed to mentoring young researchers while fostering interdisciplinary and international collaborations.

As an academic, Dr. Tella teaches courses in Animal Breeding and Genetics, Animal Physiology, Livestock Production, and related disciplines. His teaching philosophy emphasizes critical thinking, research-driven learning, and practical application to address contemporary challenges in animal agriculture.
Through his teaching, research, and collaborative engagements, Dr. Tella remains committed to advancing sustainable livestock production, improving food security, promoting animal welfare, and contributing to scientific innovation and capacity building in animal breeding and genetics, particularly within tropical production systems.
