Biography

Dr. Abideen Ibiyemi is a Reader and Head of the Department of Physics, with extensive experience in teaching, research, academic leadership, and university administration. He is an accomplished physicist whose research interests span materials science, nanotechnology, condensed matter physics, semiconductor physics, magnetism, superconductivity, and renewable energy materials. Dr. Ibiyemi obtained his postdoctoral training at the National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, where he conducted advanced research in functional nanomaterials and materials characterization. His postdoctoral work further enhanced his expertise in the synthesis, characterization, and application of advanced materials for energy, environmental, and optoelectronic technologies. His research focuses on the design, synthesis, and characterization of nanostructured materials, including ferrite nanoparticles and thin films, semiconductor materials, magnetic nanomaterials, and photocatalytic materials. He has extensive experience in the use of advanced characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS/EDX), UV–Visible spectroscopy, photoluminescence (PL), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), Hall effect measurements, and surface profilometry to investigate the structural, optical, electrical, and magnetic properties of functional materials.
Dr. Ibiyemi has authored and co-authored numerous scholarly publications in reputable peer-reviewed international journals and has presented research findings at national and international conferences. His current research explores the effects of synthesis techniques, solvent engineering, doping, and nanostructuring on the performance of advanced materials for applications in optoelectronics, spintronics, photocatalysis, energy storage, sensing technologies, and sustainable energy systems.
As Head of the Department of Physics, Dr. Ibiyemi provides academic and administrative leadership, promotes excellence in teaching and research, mentors undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervises research projects, and contributes to curriculum development and quality assurance. He has been actively involved in examination moderation, postgraduate seminars, research development, and strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening scientific research and higher education.

Research Interests

Dr. Abideen Ibiyemi's research interests are centered on the synthesis, characterization, and application of advanced functional materials for energy, environmental, and electronic technologies. His work integrates experimental materials science with applied physics to develop high-performance materials for next-generation technological applications. His major research interests include: Nanomaterials and nanotechnology, materials science and engineering, condensed matter and solid-state physics, semiconductor physics and optoelectronic materials, magnetic materials, ferrites, and spintronic materials, thin-film synthesis and characterization, optical, electrical, and magnetic properties of functional materials, advanced materials characterization using XRD, SEM/EDS, TEM, UV–Visible spectroscopy, photoluminescence (PL), FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, Hall-effect measurements, vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), and surface profilometry.
