Biography

Dr. Tomilola Ayo Arilekolasi is a Lecturer I in the Department of Animal Production and Health with a Ph.D. in Animal Production and Management. She is a dedicated academic and researcher whose teaching, research, and community engagement focus on promoting sustainable livestock production through innovative and climate-smart approaches. Her research interests include climate-smart ruminant production, pasture and forage production, ruminant nutrition, forage conservation, sustainable feed resource utilization, and livestock production systems. Her work emphasizes improving forage productivity and quality, developing efficient feeding strategies, and utilizing locally available feed resources to enhance livestock performance while reducing the environmental impacts of animal agriculture. She also conducts research on enteric methane gas mitigation, forage conservation technologies, and the use of agro-industrial by-products as alternative feed resources.
Dr. Arilekolasi teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Animal Science and is actively involved in supervising students' research and mentoring young scientists. Her commitment to academic excellence is reflected in her efforts to bridge scientific research with practical solutions that address livestock production challenges in Nigeria and other developing countries. She has published in reputable peer-reviewed journals and presented research findings at national and international conferences. Her collaborative research seeks to improve livestock productivity, strengthen climate resilience, and enhance food and nutritional security through sustainable pasture and ruminant production systems.
Her long-term research vision is to develop science-based innovations that improve the productivity, resilience, and sustainability of ruminant livestock systems. She is committed to advancing climate-smart livestock production through interdisciplinary research, quality teaching, and stakeholder engagement, contributing to sustainable agricultural development and food security in Nigeria, sub-Saharan Africa, and beyond.
