Biography
Lorretta Favour Chizomam Ntoimo’s professional training is in sociology and demography. She has over thirteen years of experience teaching and conducting research. She obtained her PhD from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and her postdoctoral studies from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. She has completed many other professional training programmes. Currently, she is a professor of social demography in the Department of Demography and Social Statistics at Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Nigeria. Professor Ntoimo is a highly motivated and result-oriented researcher whose goal is to contribute to sexual and reproductive health, population health, family demography, and gender research. She has actively contributed to these fields through teaching and supervision, over 100 publications, intervention research, editorship of journals, presentations at conferences and other scientific meetings, and mentoring of younger scholars. She has played various roles in leading and collaborating on research projects that are funded by esteemed organisations such as the MacArthur Foundation/African Population and Health Research Centre; the South African National Research Fund Centre of Excellence in Human Development; the World Health Organisation; the International Development Research Centre, Canada; UNFPA, Nigeria's National Research Fund; and the Lancet, among others. Through these diverse projects, she has demonstrated her expertise and commitment to advancing research in critical areas of human development. She is a fellow of the Demographic and Health Survey and the African Academy of Science. She is a member of many professional associations.
