Area of Specialization: Neuroscience and Neuroendocrinology

Biography

Ajibola Toheeb Adesumbo is an early-career anatomist, educator and young researcher whose work focuses on neuroscience neurobiology and metabolic disease research. He currently serves as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria, where he is actively involved in teaching, mentoring undergraduate students, and advancing biomedical research. He obtained a First Class Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Anatomy from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso. Driven by a passion for biomedical research and academic development, he earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Human Anatomy from Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, where his research investigated the protective effects of pumpkin seed oil against high salt-induced neuroreproductive toxicity in experimental animal models. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Anatomy at Afe Babalola University with research interests centered on neurodegeneration, diabetes mellitus, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and the gut–brain axis. Ajibola has contributed to several peer-reviewed scientific publications and has presented research findings at academic conferences. His research integrates histological, biochemical, immunohistochemical, and molecular approaches to elucidate disease mechanisms and evaluate the therapeutic potential of natural products. His work has attracted competitive research support including funding through the TETFund Institutional-Based Research intervention. Beyond research, Ajibola is passionate about teaching and capacity building. He has supervised undergraduate research projects, participated in curriculum delivery, and served in several academic administrative roles. He is committed to mentoring young scientists and promoting excellence in biomedical education through evidence-based teaching and collaborative research.
