Biography
BIOGRAPHY OF PROF. BABATUNDE AFOLABI
Prof. Babatunde AFOLABI is Professor of Finance in the Department of Finance, Federal University Oye-Ekiti. He became Acting HOD of the Department of Finance in 2020 and became Acting Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences in 2021 and substantive Dean and Chairman Committee of Deans and Directors, FUOYE in 2023 and 2025 respectively. He is a member of FUOYE Governing Council. He has multidisciplinary research focus in Finance, Banking, Corporate finance and Monetary & Development Economics.
Prior to joining the academia, he was an astute Banker with almost two decades of cognate banking experience with both First Bank Nigeria Plc and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc.
He holds a PhD. in Finance, an MBA, Master and Bachelor’s Degrees in Economics and has delivered many academic papers in several conferences, he co-authored several books and has published over 70 research papers in his area of interest. He is a fellow of the Nigerian Society for Financial Research, Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Public Administrators (FSPA), member of the Nigerian Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (ANIMN), Institute of Economists of Nigeria (INEN), Member Chartered Institute of Forensics and Certified Fraud Examiners of Nigeria (CIFCFEN), and an Honorary Senior member of Chattered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HCIB). He has produced many PhD and Master students in Finance and has extensive knowledge in practice, research, training and teaching. He is the present Deputy Vice Chancellor (Strategic Partnerships, Research, Innovation and Linkages) in FUOYE.
He is a reviewer for many journals both on-shore and off-shore. He is the Deputy Editor in chief for FUOYE Journal of Finance and Contemporary Issues and Editor in Chief for FUOYE, Journal of Management Sciences.
He is married to Funmilola Afolabi, the marriage is blessed with Children.

Multidisciplinary research focus in Finance, Banking, Corporate finance and Monetary & Development Economics.
