Senior Lecturer
Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering
Area of Specialization: Power and energy system
Biography
Dr. Shereefdeen Oladapo Sanni is a Power Systems Engineer and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Ilorin, specializing in power system stability, renewable energy integration, and grid resilience. He earned his B.Eng. from the University of Ilorin and his M.Sc. from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. His doctoral research introduced the Network Response Short-Circuit Ratio (NRSCR), an innovative system strength assessment metric that captures interactions among inverter-based renewable energy sources. This contribution has been published in leading international journals, including IEEE Access, Electric Power Systems Research, and Renewable Energy Focus, advancing the planning and operation of weak power systems. With over thirteen years of combined academic, research, and industry experience, Dr. Sanni teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Power Systems Analysis, Power System Operation and Control, Renewable Energy Systems, Electrical Machines, and High Voltage Engineering. His research focuses on power system stability, renewable energy integration, smart grids, microgrids, hybrid energy systems, and power system optimization. He has extensive expertise in modelling and simulation using MATLAB/Simulink, PSS/E, HOMER, RETScreen, and Python. Dr. Sanni is a member of the FUOYE Energy Hub Innovation Team, where he contributes to the design and optimization of hybrid renewable energy systems, particularly solar PV–biogas integration for sustainable campus electrification. Before joining academia, he served as an ATM Support Engineer (Team Lead) at Inlaks Computers Limited, leading technical teams and managing mission-critical infrastructure. He is a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the International Association of Engineers (IAENG).
