Biography

Dr. Olowomofe Olawale Gabriel is a Lecturer II in the Department of Physics at the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria, where he also serves as the Departmental Examination Officer. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics/Electronics from Adekunle Ajasin University, an M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Ibadan, and a Ph.D. in Radiation and Health Physics from Ekiti State University.

His research focuses on environmental radiation and health physics, with particular emphasis on environmental radioactivity, radioecology, radon assessment, heavy metal contamination, soil to crop transfer of radionuclides and trace metals, and environmental health risk assessment. His work combines field investigations, laboratory analyses, statistical techniques, and Monte Carlo simulation to evaluate contaminant transport and their implications for environmental and public health.

Dr. Olowomofe has published several peer reviewed articles in reputable international journals, including Environmental Forensics, Applied Water Science, International Journal of Environmental Science and Technology, Environmental Systems Research, and International Journal of Radiation Research. His research has made significant contributions to the understanding of groundwater radon, radiological risk assessment, radionuclide transfer in agricultural ecosystems, and environmental radioactivity in Nigeria. His publications have received citations in both Scopus and Google Scholar.

He has supervised numerous undergraduate research projects in radiation and health physics, environmental monitoring, particulate matter pollution, radon assessment, and heavy metal contamination at the Federal University Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State University, and the Nigerian Defence Academy. With over a decade of teaching experience, he has taught a wide range of undergraduate courses in physics and has contributed actively to academic administration and professional development. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Physics (NIP) and regularly participates in national and international scientific conferences. Dr. Olowomofe is married and blessed with children.
