Prof. Lukman Shina Akinola

Biography

Prof. Lukman Shina Akinola was born on 30th March, 1973 in Iseyin, Oyo State. He is a native of Apomu, Isokan Local Government, Osun State. He had his primary education at A. D. C. Primary School, Oke – Ola, Apomu, Osun State from 1979 to 1985. He proceeded to Ayedaade Grammar School, Ikire, Osun State in 1985 for his secondary school education which he completed in 1991. He attended Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta for his B.Sc. M.Sc and PhD in Mathematics which he graduated in the years 1999, 2003 and 2012 respectively. Prof. Akinola worked as a secondary school mathematics teacher for three years. He started his lecturing carrier as one of the pioneer staff of Crescent University, Abeokuta in December, 2005 as an Assistant Lecturer. He joined the service of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta also as an Assistant lecturer in 2007 and later got appointment with Fountain University, Osogbo as a Lecturer II in December, 2008. Prof. Akinola joined the Service of Federal University Oye- Ekiti in December 2013 as a lecturer I and rose through the ladder to become a Professor in October, 2023. Prof. Akinola has taught several courses in Mathematics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in all universities he has worked. He has also supervised many undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has published many articles in reputable journals locally and internationally. He has attended many conferences and workshops locally and internationally, and presented papers in some of them. Prof. Akinola has occupied a number administrative positions in Universities he has worked. Specifically he was an Acting Director of Joint Universities Preliminaries Examination Boards(JUPEB), Federal University Oye Ekiti Study Centre from 2018 to 2023. He is currently the Head of Department, Department of Mathematics, Federal University Oye- Ekiti since 2024.
