Biography

Dr. Kehinde Mary Popoola (née Alabi) is a Nigerian academic, researcher, and educator specializing in Botany, Plant Physiology, Plant Biotechnology, and Plant Disease Management. She currently serves as a Lecturer I in the Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology, Faculty of Life Sciences, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria. Dr. Popoola obtained her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Botany from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, before earning a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the National Teachers' Institute, Kaduna. She later obtained her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Botany from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in 2016. Her teaching portfolio covers a broad range of undergraduate courses, including General Biology, General Physiology, Plant Pathology, Plant Physiology, Plant Virology, Industrial Biotechnology, Conservation and Biodiversity, Economic Botany, Biosafety, Mushroom Cultivation, and Bioresources Management. She has supervised numerous undergraduate research projects and currently co-supervises postgraduate research. Dr. Popoola's research focuses on phytochemicals, allelochemicals, plant physiology, sustainable crop production, plant disease management, plant–microbe interactions, biotechnology, and environmental stress tolerance in plants. She has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications in reputable national and international journals, contributing to advances in plant science, agricultural biotechnology, and environmental sustainability. She is actively involved in academic administration and has served as a Level Adviser and currently as the Examination Officer in the Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology at FUOYE. She is also a member of several professional organizations, including the Botanical Society of Nigeria (BOSON), the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), the National Association of Women in Academics (NAWAC), the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), and the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN). Beyond academia, Dr. Popoola is committed to community service through faith-based and humanitarian activities. She participates in children's Bible
