Biography
Dr Adebolu Folajimi ADEKOYA is a Senior Lecturer and Acting Head of the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education, Faculty of Education, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria. He is a scholar, researcher, mentor, and academic administrator with expertise in Human Kinetics, Health Education, Sport Psychology, Exercise Science, Health Promotion, and Behavioural Health.
His multidisciplinary research interests encompass strength and conditioning, sport psychology, environmental health, sexuality education, fitness and exercise, health literacy, and health promotion. He has authored and co-authored over 41 peer-reviewed publications with more than 113 citations in reputable national and international journals. His scholarly works have appeared in recognised Scopus- and Web of Science-indexed outlets, including Education (Taylor & Francis), Library Management (Emerald Publishing), Health Education (Emerald Publishing), Journal of Higher Education Theory and Practice, and Acta Educationis Generalis.
Dr Adekoya's research contributes to evidence-based practice in education, health, and sport. His publications have addressed issues such as bullying among primary school pupils, intrinsic motivation and library utilisation, health literacy and mental health help-seeking behaviour, students' perceptions of lecturers' effectiveness, employment status and educational attainment, and lifestyle modification within the African context.
As Acting Head of Department, he provides leadership in curriculum development, quality assurance, research mentoring, and staff development. He previously served as Publication Secretary of the Sports Psychology Association of Nigeria, contributing to scholarly publishing and research dissemination. He also serves as Students Faculty Staff Adviser, mentoring students in academic and research development.
Beyond academia, Dr Adekoya is actively involved in university sports development as a mobiliser for the university handball and baseball teams and a member of the University Sports Committee, promoting student-athlete well-being, participation, and performance through sport and health education.

Apply psychological principles to enhance motivation, mental toughness, performance, exercise adherence, and overall well-being among athletes and physically active individuals.
Design and implement health education and behaviour modification interventions that promote healthy lifestyles and disease prevention.
Conduct quantitative and qualitative research, develop research instruments, perform statistical analyses, and publish scholarly works in Human Kinetics and Health Education.
Serve as Faculty Staff Adviser, facilitating staff–student relations, resolving conflicts, promoting peaceful coexistence, and preventing student unrest within the Faculty of Education.
Provide departmental leadership, coordinate academic programmes and committees, mentor students, and contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance activities
