Biography
Mrs. Ojelabi Adetutu is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry with expertise in Clinical Biochemistry, Phytomedicine, and Biotechnology. Her research is centered on the biochemical, molecular, and clinical evaluation of medicinal plants for the prevention and treatment of human diseases. She employs interdisciplinary approaches, including phytochemical analysis, biomarker discovery, natural product research, and biotechnology, to advance the development of evidence-based plant-derived therapeutics.
Mrs. Ojelabi obtained both her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) degrees in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. Her M.Sc. research, titled Mitigatory Effects of Hesperidin on Dichlorvos-Induced Multi-Organ Toxicity in Male Wistar Rats, investigated the protective potential of a natural flavonoid against pesticide-induced organ toxicity.
Her current research focuses on investigating the ameliorative effects of medicinal plants on benign prostatic hyperplasia using male Wistar rats. Her broader research interests include clinical biochemistry, medicinal plant biochemistry, oxidative stress, inflammation, metabolic disorders, molecular mechanisms of disease, phytochemical characterization, biotechnology, and natural product-based drug discovery.
Beyond research, Mrs. Ojelabi is dedicated to excellence in teaching, student mentorship, research supervision, and community engagement. She is committed to fostering scientific innovation and translating laboratory discoveries into practical healthcare solutions that contribute to improved human health and sustainable biomedical development.

Mrs. Ojelabi's research interests span the fields of Clinical Biochemistry, Phytomedicine, and Biotechnology, with a particular emphasis on the discovery and development of plant-derived therapeutics for the prevention and management of human diseases. Her work integrates biochemical, molecular, and pharmacological approaches to investigate the therapeutic potential of medicinal plants and natural bioactive compounds.
