Biography

Dr. Samuel Olugbenga Ojo is a Lecturer I and the current Head of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria. He holds a Ph.D. in Peace and Security Studies, LL.B. (Hons.), and M.Sc. in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, and is an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (NICArb). His academic and professional expertise spans peace and conflict studies, arbitration, alternative dispute resolution (ADR), security studies, governance, human rights, diplomacy, and constitutional law.
Dr. Ojo's research focuses on conflict management, peacebuilding, national security, arbitration, human rights, and governance, with particular interest in the application of ADR mechanisms to contemporary security and socio-political challenges in Nigeria. He has published extensively in reputable peer-reviewed journals on topics including arbitration, national security, insurgency, constitutional restructuring, small arms proliferation, and conflict resolution.
Beyond his scholarly contributions, Dr. Ojo has accumulated significant academic leadership and administrative experience, having served as Postgraduate Coordinator before his appointment as Head of Department. He has supervised over eighty undergraduate research projects, five postgraduate dissertations, and teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in peace and conflict studies, law, and security studies.
As a certified Chartered Arbitrator, Dr. Ojo serves as a Neutral Facilitator with the Federal High Court Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre and as a member of the Panel of Neutrals of the Edo State Multi-Door Courthouse. He has facilitated professional training programmes in arbitration and mediation for law students and legal practitioners across Nigeria. His commitment to scholarship, teaching, community engagement, and professional service continues to advance knowledge and promote sustainable peace, justice, and conflict transformation in Nigeria and beyond.
