Dr. Hafiz Awofe Akinyele

Reader / Associate Professor

Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Life Sciences

Area of Specialization: Industrial and Applied Microbiology

Biography

Dr. Hafiz A. Akinyele is a Reader in the Department of Microbiology at Federal University Oye-Ekiti. His research focuses on Industrial and Applied Microbiology, with emphasis on microbial enzymes, microbial physiology, and the microbial deterioration of lignocellulosic wastes.
He investigates the production and optimization of industrially relevant enzymes, and how microorganisms can convert agricultural residues into biofuels, biochemicals, and animal feed. This work supports waste valorization and sustainable bioprocess development for Nigeria’s agro-industrial sector.
At FUOYE, Dr. Akinyele teaches Industrial Microbiology, Fermentation Technology, and Microbial Physiology. He mentors undergraduate and postgraduate students and engages in research that links laboratory findings to practical industrial applications. He is a member of the Nigerian Society for Microbiology and American Society of Microbiology.

Research Interests

Microbial enzymes, microbial physiology, the microbial deterioration of lignocellulosic wastes and production secondary metabolites.
