Research Interests
My research interests centre on Applied Linguistics, with complementary interests in Sociolinguistics and Pragmatics. I am particularly interested in the application of linguistic theories, methods, and analytical frameworks to address real-world language and communication challenges across educational, institutional, professional, and multicultural contexts. My research explores how language shapes social interaction, identity construction, interpersonal relationships, and meaning-making, with a focus on the ways linguistic insights can improve communication practices and inform evidence-based solutions to societal issues.
Drawing on perspectives from sociolinguistics and pragmatics, I investigate language use in context, including issues of politeness, rapport management, discourse, intercultural communication, and language-mediated social interaction. Through interdisciplinary scholarship, I seek to demonstrate how Applied Linguistics can contribute to policy development, communication effectiveness, social inclusion, and sustainable development by providing practical solutions to complex language-related challenges.
