Biography
Olushola Sunday Ayanda is a Professor of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Department of Chemistry, Federal University Oye-Ekiti. He also serves as Professor of Practice at the Vaal University of Technology, South Africa. As the Pioneer Director of Innovation & Digital Technology at Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Professor OS Ayanda has spearheaded groundbreaking initiatives that drive technological advancement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and global recognition for the university.
Prof. O.S. Ayanda led the establishment of the FUOYE Innovation Hub, creating a vibrant ecosystem that drives innovation, facilitates research commercialization, supports entrepreneurial development, and fosters strategic industry collaborations. He initiated the FUOYE Innovation Club, a platform that brings together students and staff to engage in cutting-edge technological projects, hackathons, and problem-solving bootcamps.
A significant aspect of his role includes enhancing FUOYE’s global rankings. In 2024, Prof OS Ayanda pioneered the university’s participation in Times Higher Education rankings, leading to FUOYE’s impressive national and international standing in multiple categories such as the Impact rankings, Interdisciplinary Science Rankings, Sub-Saharan Africa rankings and the World University Rankings.
Beyond institutional rankings, Professor Ayanda has driven FUOYE’s digital transformation by overseeing the management of over ten (10) university social media platforms. Through strategic digital engagement, these platforms enhance FUOYE’s visibility, promote academic programs, and foster a strong online presence for students, faculty, and alumni. He has also led several capacity-building initiatives, organizing bootcamps, training sessions, and webinars to equip students and staff with coding, web design, Python and emerging tech skills.
His tenure as Director of Innovation & Digital Technology has positioned FUOYE as a hub for technological excellence, bridging the gap between academia, industry, and innovation, and ensuring that the university remains at the forefront of scientific and digital advancements.
