Area of Specialization: Animal Physiology
Biography
Dr. Bernard Nwabueze Sunday is a Lecturer II in the Department of Animal Production and Health at FUOYE. A veterinarian and certified AI engineer, his work integrates livestock health with smart agriculture. He holds a DVM and M.Sc. from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, alongside advanced certifications in AI from Microsoft and Huawei. His research focuses on Animal Physiology, Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology, Veterinary AI/ML diagnostics, and precision livestock farming.
Research Interests
My research interests include:
Animal Physiology: Investigating immunophysiology, reproductive physiology, and systemic animal functions to optimize livestock health, adaptation, and production efficiency under varying environmental and management conditions.
Precision Medicine & Veterinary Diagnostics: Developing and applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) models for early disease detection, syndromic surveillance, and automated diagnostics in companion, food, and wild animals.
Smart & Digital Agriculture: Utilizing AI-driven health informatics and data analytics to optimize decision-making, enhance veterinary services, and improve farm management workflows.
Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology: Investigating zoonotic risk factors, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and disease transmission dynamics in animal populations to protect both livestock and human health.
